Fall Family Fun Series - Aiken's Makin'
Every Tuesday at 8:10 throughout the fall season, we'll be highlighting a different festival that's happening in the listening area during the upcoming weekend. This morning we talked to David Jameson of the Aiken Chamber of Commerce about Aiken's Makin'.
The parkways along Park Avenue will be marked and ready for the nearly 30,000 visitors who flock to the festival every year. The choices will be many as they shop for jewelry, stained glass, pottery, clothing, woodcrafts, yard art, wrought iron, soaps, lotions, needlecrafts, candles, and many other unique handcrafted items from around the Southeast. The choices of food items will be just as diverse – hamburgers, stir-fry, Greek specialties, BBQ, popcorn, funnel cakes, ice cream, and a variety of cold beverages. Caught By the Guy Wire

Thankfully, the driver walked away without any injuries, and the guy wire kept him from flipping into the Kroger gas station. Talk about the hand of God!

This six-week program is for family and friends who are caring for others suffering from stroke, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease or similar conditions.
It provides you with the skills and confidence needed to better care for yourself while caring for others. Many participants report fewer feelings of anger, guilt and depression as well as increased confidence in coping with the demands of caregiving. They're also more likely to use community services that can help ease their burden.
Free Adult Day Care will be provided by AutumnCare, 3654 J. Dewey Gray Circle for each session. Pre-registration and a current PPD test is required for day care participants.

Thursday's Morning Show
Dr. Mark Newton, who is the chief of ER at Doctors Hospital, will be with us at 6:10 and 7:40 to talk about swine flu. We're seeing more cases of it locally in McDuffie and Aiken counties, so Dr. Newton will address some of the concerns and questions about it.
