Things We Talked About Today

-Today is the big reveal for Augusta's Extreme Home Makeover. Earnie Graham and her family will get to see the new home constructed for them by Bill Beazley Homes, ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and thousands of local volunteers. The reveal is at 2 PM and is open to the public. You'll need to park on the Deans Bridge Road side of Regency Mall and take a shuttle bus to the build site. Be prepared to wait a while because they are running behind schedule today.

-Earnie Graham was surprised yesterday with the new cabin built in her honor at the Girl Scouts' Camp Tanglewood in Martinez. Read more

-Google unveiled their new Chrome laptop computer yesterday. What's missing from the keyboard? A caps lock key! The company said at the Chrome press conference: "We expect this will improve the quality of comments across the web." So, no more online shouting!

-A Charlie Brown Christmas was on ABC last night and repeats on December 16th. It brought back memories of the Christmas of 1987 for John when his family had a live tree that lost all of its needles and was a Charlie Brown tree by Christmas day. Other listeners say they've had a similar experience on the 88.3 WAFJ Facebook page.

-There were a lot of automatic sprinklers running this morning at homes and businesses around the CSRA, creating icy road conditions. If you have one, please turn it off.

-Today, we're at the Sunrise Grill on Martintown Road in North Augusta for the next stop on our Christmas Cheer Tour. We're collecting new and gently used warm clothing donations. You can stop by from 11 to 1 and register to win tickets to the Mark Schultz/Downhere Christmas show and get some "Please Wish Me a Merry Christmas" stickers.

-Erin Arrington of Matthews shared her Creamy Broccoli and Cheese Soup recipe in Simple Cooking this morning. Get the recipe

-Pastor Andy Collins told us about a unique event that Sharon Baptist Church is doing at the Columbia County Fairgrounds. It starts tomorrow and it is called "A Hayride Through the Life of Christ." Details are on the family calendar at http://www.wafj.com/.
