-This weekend, you can enjoy two fairs in our area. This will be the last weekend for the Georgia-Carolina State Fair in Augusta, but the Western Carolina State Fair in Aiken is just getting started.

-Congratulations to our Augusta Riverhawks for winning their home opener 4-2 against Mississippi last night. They play again on Saturday night at the James Brown Arena.

-The Georgia Department of Labor's Augusta Career Center is hosting a job expo today from 9 am to 12 noon at the career center, located at 601 Greene Street in Augusta. Over 20 employers will be represented.

-John's two-year old, Emma, locked herself in her room and refused to come out. This prompted a call from his wife, Amy, in a momentary panic asking how to unlock the door. So, this morning we talked about your panicked parent moments. Join the conversation on the 88.3 WAFJ Facebook page.

-Costco opens in Augusta on November 16th, and they'll start selling memberships tomorrow. You can enter through Alexander Drive and purchase them in the Tire Center.

-The Georgia Department of Labor's Augusta Career Center will sponsor a job expo on Thursday, October 20th. It will be held from 9 am to 12 noon at the career center, located at 601 Greene Street in Augusta. Over 20 employers will be represented.

-An Athens woman learned that it's not a good idea to tell people on Facebook that you're out of town. When she returned home on Sunday, her apartment door had been knocked down and over $1,000 worth of valuables had been stolen.

-John and Cleve attended the Augusta Care Pregnancy Center's annual banquet last night. This ministry is in it's 30th year of saving lives. During the past year, they have been able to minister to over 1,600 clients. Also, 59 clients have accepted Christ, and over 130 babies have been saved. Simple Cooking - Easy Peach Cobbler


1 stick of butter
1 can of peaches
1 cup of self-rising flour
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of milk.

Melt butter in baking dish. Mix flour, sugar and milk together and pour over butter DO NOT STIR. Spoon peaches and juice over batter. DO NOT STIR. Bake at 350 until brown - about 30-45 minutes.
