Veterans Job Readiness Event


Following its commitment to help veterans find their place in the workforce, the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) will host a Job Readiness Kickoff on Friday, Sept. 20, in Augusta. Job-Readiness workshops will be held from 12 noon until 3 p.m. at the Augusta First Baptist Church, located at 3500 Walton Way. The workshops will help the returning veterans in networking, interviewing, translating their military skill-sets to the civilian workforce, and how to successfully navigate a career expo. The Job Readiness Kickoff has been specifically designed to coincide with the October 17 Paychecks for Patriots event being held at Fort Gordon.

Volunteers Needed for the Augusta Ironman

Simple Cooking - No Peek Beef Tips


2 lbs. Stew Meat or Beef Steak Tips
1 10 ¾ oz. can Cream of Chicken Soup
1 envelope of french onion soup mix
1 envelope brown gravy mix
1 cup water
1 small chopped onion (Optional)

 Place stew meat in bottom of crock pot. Place chopped onion on top. In a bowl, mix well the: cream of chicken soup, french onion soup mix, brown gravy mix, and 1 cup of water. Set on low for 8 hours serve with pole beans/any type of vegetable, over rice/mashed potatoes/pasta and enjoy!! **Optional ingredients to add into the crock pot would be carrots, celery, and potatoes**
