Friday, March 9th

-Bob Waliszewksi joined us for the Plugged In Movie Review to talk about John Carter. This movie is PG-13, and Bob gives it a 3.5 out 5 for family-friendliness due to skimpy clothing, skewed theology and violent scenes. Click the link for his full review.

-Jennifer Waters from Seigler's Karate Center joined us this morning to talk about a free women's self-defense class. You can join them on Saturday from 12 to 1 pm at their facility at the corner of Columbia and Belair Roads in Martinez.

-The Augusta Riverhawks won in overtime last night against Knoxville and will play them at home tonight at 7:35 pm. There are only a few home games left in the regular season before the playoffs. Our team is #1 in the league!

-There's a kite-flying contest on Saturday at Noon at Diamond Lakes Regional Park in Augusta. Registration begins at 9 am.

-Former and current Girl Scouts are invited to celebrate the organization's 100th birthday on Saturday from 8:30 to 11:30 am at the Old Railroad Depot on Reynolds Street in Downtown Augusta.

-Brandi Johnson from Aiken joined us this morning to talk about the Pray the 12 event her church group is hosting. They'll be lifting up Aiken's law enforcement community and other prayer needs from 6 pm Saturday to 6 am Sunday at Family Pharmacy, 110 Price Avenue in Aiken. You're invited to come join them in prayer for any amount of time during that window.

-Cleve is planning some summer travel and wanted to know the best way to check out possible places to stay. John heartily recommends www.tripadvisor.com for user reviews on hotels, restaurants and attractions.

Simple Cooking - Crockpot Enchilada

1 pound of browned, ground beef drained
2 cans of cheese soup
2 cans of golden mushroom soup
2 cans of enchilada sauce
2 cans of cream of mushroom soup

Put all together in a crockpot for 2 hours on high, or 4-5 hours on low. Serve over Doritos or in tortillas.

-Goodwill's Job Connection is hosting a job fair on Thursday, March 8th from 10 am to 1 pm at their facility located at 3120 Peach Orchard Road in Augusta. There is a resume and cover letter workshop today from 9 to 10 am at Goodwill at 3153 Washington Road and 1:30 to 2:30 pm at Goodwill's Peach Orchard Road campus. A workshop covering how to get a job interview will be held at the Aiken campus at 1015 Pine Log Road from 10 to 11 am today. On Wednesday, learn how to get a job and keep a job at the Peach Orchard Road campus from 10 to 11 am and at the Washington Road campus from 3 to 4 pm. The resume and cover letter workshop will be held in Aiken on Wednesday from 10 to 11 am.

-Yesterday, we talked about the Aiken Girl Scouts who had $1,000 of their cookie money stolen at Walmart. Several listeners have expressed interest in helping replenish the funds so that the girls won't miss out on any activities.
