Things We Talked About Today

-John was at the volunteer pep rally last night for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's Augusta project. The Diamond Lakes Community Center was packed with people eager to help out a family whose identity has even been revealed yet. The build will happen in 106 hours, from the time the old house is demolished to the time the family is handed the keys to the new home. Work goes on around the clock, so as you might imagine, a lot of volunteers are needed. Even if you don't have construction skills, there's a place for you. Sign up to volunteer at http://www.extrememakeoveraugusta.com/.

-Our movie guy, Bob Waliszewski from Focus on the Family, reviewed Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and The Next Three Days this morning. He doesn't recommend either of them for family viewing but says there are some good family movies like Megamind and Secretariat that are still playing in theaters.

-Phyllis Kramer joined us from the Butterball Turkey Talk Line to provide some cooking help for Thanksgiving and shared some funny calls she's received on the job. Listen to our conversation:
Part 1 Part 2

-Bowen Hammitt, son of Matt from Sanctus Real, was able to go home yesterday after spending the first three months of his life in the hospital. He has another heart surgery in February, but for now, he is doing really well. Praise God for a miracle in this situation and continue to pray for Bowen and his family. Updates will be posted at http://www.bowensheart.com/.

-The biggest shopping day of the year is one week from today. You can take a peak at Black Friday ads that have already been leaked at http://www.blackfriday.info/. Also, listeners are discussing their Black Friday shopping strategies on the 88.3 WAFJ Facebook page.

Coming up Monday...You could win tickets to the How Many Kings Tour with Mark Schultz and Downhere with the Monday Morning Mindbender at 6:10 and the Cheapie of the Week at 7:40. Also, we'll talk about a healthier Thanksgiving with the food and nutrition services staff at Doctors Hospital. They will share some dishes that don't sacrifice taste in the name of health at 7:10 and 8:40.

  1. Extreme Makeover filmed in Savannah this past week with the reveal being yesterday. It is so awesome to see so many people sacrificing their time and talents. It's heartwarming to say the least to see firsthand that their are still good people out there.
