Morning Show Notes - Thursday, January 13th

-Usually the stores run out of bread and milk before a snow storm, but John noticed at Publix yesterday that they were out of milk after the storm. Perhaps it is because so much of the South has been paralyzed that the delivery trucks can't make their rounds? We understand why everyone goes nuts buying bread but don't really understand the milk part because it could spoil in a power outage. One listener told us she had the answer: Listen (MP3 file)

-Maybe we need to stock up on beans the next time a winter storm hits us. Christy sent us a note saying she and her husband had planned to make Mixed Bean Soup, which was last week's Simple Cooking recipe. Their power went out in the storm and since they had all of the ingredients, they decided to cook it over their grill outside. Christy said it was the perfect, hearty, tasty, snowed-in dinner! -Team Lean registration continues through Sunday. Get a group of friends together and join us on a fun weight-loss journey. Find out more at http://www.thefamilyy.org/.

-Two-thirds of pet owners say their animal can predict bad weather. Read the story. Some say their pet knows when something is wrong with a situation. Many 88.3 WAFJ pet owners agree with this idea of a "sixth sense." Join the conversation on the 88.3 WAFJ Facebook page.

-Pastor Donnie Rogers of Life Ministries International joined us this morning to talk about Haiti, a year after the earthquake. He was doing ministry in Haiti on the day of the disaster and has been back several times over the last year. Listen to his first-hand account of what's going on in Haiti today: Part 1 Part 2

-Coming up Friday: CareerBuilder has identified the most common mistakes made in a job interview, and the one at the top of the list shocked us. We'll talk about it at 6:10 AM. Our movie guy, Bob, from Focus on the Family joins us at 7:10 AM to talk about The Green Hornet and The Dilemma.
