Things We Talked About Today

-After spending $4.2 billion last year on marketing, mainly to kids, the fast-food industry is being blamed for contributing to childhood obesity in a study released yesterday. This morning, we talked about how the fast-food restaurants are not totally at fault here. Parental responsibility is an important part of the equation, as kids can't drive themselves to the restaurants and pay for their own meals. You can read the story here. Join the conversation on the 88.3 WAFJ Facebook page.

-Operation Christmas Child shoebox collection begins Monday. 88.3 WAFJ will again be serving as a collection point, Monday through Friday from 8 to 5. Click here to learn how to pack a shoebox and to find a collection point near you.

-Black Friday ads are starting to leak. Check http://www.blackfriday.info/ and http://www.bfads.net/ to see them.

-John and Cleve will help kick off the Salvation Army's Kettle Campaign on Thursday at the National Hills Kroger on Washington Road in Augusta. From 12 to 2, you can stop by and drop off your change in one of four college football kettles: Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Clemson. John will man the Georgia kettle and Cleve will man the Clemson kettle. Of course, there's a friendly competition to see which team collects the most money!

-November is National Adoption Month and this morning we talked with Loren Rae Easterling of Covenant Care Adoptions. They are a Georgia-based, ministry-minded adoption agency that is establishing a local presence in Augusta. You can learn more about them at http://www.covenantcareadoptions.com/.
