Morning Show Notes - Tuesday, February 1st

-Fox Sports has rejected a Super Bowl ad submitted by the Alabama-based Fixed Point Foundation. The ad has a simple message that points viewers to the hope found in John 3:16. God's name is never even mentioned. Click here to watch the ad / Click here to read more about it / Click here to contact Fox Sports

-Frankie Green of Augusta is the latest member of Cleve's Coffee Club. She caught Cleve's attention because of something she does with her coffee grounds. Click here to hear Frankie's story (mp3 file)

-John had to buy a new set of tires this past weekend and his smartphone saved him some money. The shop matched the price of an online competitor when he showed them the lower price on his phone, and he saved nearly $80. We talked about the moments when your smartphone has come in handy. One listener told us that she and her dad use an app that allows them to scan the barcode of everything they eat and it keeps up with their intake to help them lose weight. This has been very successful for them. Join the conversation on the 88.3 WAFJ Facebook page.

-Sonya and Jordan Haines are the winners of this morning's tickets to The Art of Marriage. We're giving clues about a famous couple each morning this week and the first person to guess it correctly is the winner.
This morning clues were:
1. They share a love for white gloves.
2. We've got ears, says cheers.
3. They're about to work their magic on Aiken.
Answer: Mickey and Minnie Mouse (by the way, Disney Live: Mickey's Magic Show will be at the USC Aiken Convocation Center on April 15th)

-Coming up Wednesday: Francesca Battistelli joins us at 7:10 for another Winter Jam Wednesday. You'll have chances to win her music and passes to Winter Jam. At 7:40, you'll have another chance to win tickets to The Art of Marriage as we give you clues about another famous couple. Then at 8:10, Glenda Jarvis shares a diabetic recipe for Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies in Simple Cooking with John and Cleve.

  1. The bible warns us that it will be like this. Christians are still large in number and I know people will watch the game no matter what, but fox sports would be dissappointed if they lost all christian viewers due to the "sex appeal" and sinful ways they promote products. The fact is these are signs to christians that these are the end days and I dont believe it will get any better as time goes by. There was a time when it was not welcome for a woman to wear a two piece bathing suit in public. now its ok to show half naked women on tv and ciggerett and beer ads, but anything to do with Jesus... its not welcome. Its very sad and I wish I could do more than write this comment. Prayer does still work. We need to pray about situation like this one everyday!!!!
