Morning Show Notes - Wednesday, February 2nd

-Francesca Battistelli joined us this morning on another Winter Jam Wednesday. She'll be a part of Augusta's biggest night for Christian music on Thursday, February 10th at the James Brown Arena. We talked about people who butcher her name, motherhood and her new song "This Is the Stuff."
Listen to the conversation (mp3 files): Part 1  Part 2

-Rachel Cundey, a sixth-grade student, has won the Columbia County Spelling Bee for the third year in a row. She has been the area champ for the last two years and represented the CSRA at the National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC. She may be on her way there again if she wins the area spelling bee next month. Way to go Rachel! Read more

-John shared this morning that the hardest part of parenting has to be potty training! He and Amy have have been working hard with their 3 year old son, Evan, this week so that he can ditch the pull-ups and move on to big boy underwear. They're seeing some progress, but it requires a lot of patience and cheerleading. Plus, John has found that bribery with a Hot Wheels car as a reward is helpful too! It's a wonder that any of us learned to use the potty with the work that it takes to train a child.

-Jon and Julianna Murdic of Graniteville are the latest couple to win tickets to The Art of Marriage, February 11th and 12th at Stevens Creek Church in Augusta. The clues about this morning's famous couple were:
1) He was so strong that he could have been the Superman of his day.
2) She was constantly getting in his hair.
3) A love for money came between them.
A: Samson and Delilah

-Neither Punxsutawney Phil nor Georgia's General Beauregard Lee PhD saw their shadows today, so as groundhog tradition goes, we should see an early spring. The next time you go to Stone Mountain, consider a trip to visit Beau. He lives down the street at the Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn.

-Glenda Jarvis of Barnwell shared a diabetic recipe for Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies in Simple Cooking with John and Cleve this morning. The recipe is in the post below this one.

-Coming up Thursday: Tommy Vaughn of the Georgia Bridal Show joins us at 7:40 to talk about their show this Sunday at the Bell Auditorium. You'll have another chance to win tickets to The Art of Marriage when you identify a famous couple at 8:10 AM.
